The problem is, that oil is extremely energy dense, meaning there’s loads of energy in even the smallest drop of oil. This is due to how oil was formed from rotting plants, heat and pressure in the earths crust over million’s of years.
What we do when we burn oil is release all the energy that was put in by the earth when the oil was formed as heat energy.

What we need is to move to using sustainable fuels such as fast growing forests that are managed responsibly, that takes care of fuel. Oil is also used for nearly every plastic you see around you, so all of them have to be made from other sources, that’s a much bigger problem.
