      Yes. I have worked on a number of robotics type projects. I worked on the UCD Roboboat, a full sized sale boat which was designed and built to sail completely by itself. I wrote the autopilot software and redesigned the sail control system to use much less energy.

      Surprisingly, these days the electronics is not as complicated as it used to be. Clever electronics engineers have started to create “modules” almost like lego which can be pieced together to make a bigger system. Try looking up the raspberry pi or arduino microcontrollers which can be used to do many really interesting things with robots and software.
