I am a mechanical engineer. A mechanical engineer typically works in a design job. Such as designing machines, like new engines for all sorts of cars.
I used to design big ovens that you could fit an entire bus into.

My job now means that i make sure that all pipes,, tanks (like huge water tanks 4 stories tall) and valves work correctly. My job now also means that if something is broken I fix it.

I am a mechanical engineer, however my work is with the Civil Engineering department so technically I am a civil engineer. This is because we don’t have a material engineering department.
My work is research which any type of engineer can get into if they are interested and can find the right project.
